NEWS UPDATES and ANNOUNCEMENTS

These classes are an ideal introduction for boys and girls to the world of dance, drama and movement!

Qualified teachers at Graham School of Dance are specially trained to engage children from the age of 2 to dance through delightful dance-mad teddy  ‘Melody Bear’ . She is often joined by her friends, including Milligan  Bear – Melody Bear’s new friend.  He dances in class with Melody Bear and has stories, stickers and awards for boys who love to dance.

Melody Bear

Classes are run weekly during term time, in Bishop’s Stortford, in Berden and in Stansted and introduce children to dance & movement using the  natural actions of the body such as running, jumping, skipping and galloping.

The syllabus was created by teacher Jill Bridger, who says:

"Melody Bear classes are structured to aid children’s physical development, coordination, spatial awareness, creativity & self-expression working individually, with a partner, or as a group."

Melody Movement also introduces children to other fundamental curriculum learning skills such as counting, colour and shape recognition, vocabulary and language skills.

The strength of the system is that learning is achieved through imaginative movement which is enjoyable and fun. Melody Movement instils a love of dance making it a positive  element of their early lives which stays with them.  They learn from  a young age how music, movement, dance and the imagination can  be combined to tell a story and convey emotions.
